Sources & Resources

For the past two-going-on-three years, I’ve been honored and humbled to spend time in my happy places — libraries, archives, historical societies — seeking out those precious fragments of the past that combine to present stories of other times, other places, other people. Yet throughout, the presence of human love for life, and need to be loved, and desire to make meaning of life — these are constants. I am indebted beyond words to the people who nearly two hundred years ago, for some unknown reason, decided that this letter, that journal, this publication was worthy to be saved. Gratitude also to the historians, librarians, archivists, and all who have preserved these, and allow curious people like me access to them.
